Measuring misalignment of rolled metal sheets
Measuring misalignment of rolled metal sheets during transport
You wish to stabilize shaft misalignment at a set location within the range of ±0.5 mm when the roll is removed during periodic cleaning.
[Issue] Simultaneous measurement at multiple locations and measurement during transport
- You’re using a micrometer to make measurements, but measuring both ends of the roll and at multiple other locations at the same time is difficult.
- You wish to detect misalignment exceeding a certain threshold immediately, but making measurements while the sheet is moving is difficult.

[Solution] Install two Micro Laser Sensors to detect misalignment from two directions.
Install two HG-C Series Micro Laser Distance Sensors on the dispenser and use them to detect misalignment from two directions.
Zero-set the HG-C sensors at the roll’s reference location in advance.
By detecting misalignment from two directions, the sensor values will vary even if the roll becomes misaligned diagonally, allowing misalignment to be detected.

Key considerations in choosing a sensor

Contactless testing
This setup is capable of contactless testing! It can accommodate measurements of products that are easily scratched.
High-precision measurement
This setup is capable of high-precision measurement with repeatability of 10 μm (when using the HG-C1030)!
Easy installation
The sensors feature a compact design with a built-in amplifier! Installation is simple.
Lightweight, rugged design
Thanks to their aluminum die-cast enclosure, these sensors are lightweight and rugged! The design reduces elements of instability in measurement precision caused by enclosure deflection and temperature.
